For several days I have found these strange trapezoids painted around town. Then trapezoidal concrete platforms were placed on them. Today cows... The Cow Parade in San Jose has begun. The International Cow Parade has invaded San Jose. Some 120 sculpted and painted cows adorn much of the downtown area. They will remain here for the next four months and then be auctioned off for charity. While Costa Rica is the first Central American city to be a part of this "The Largest Art Project in the World" it is by far not the first. The first installation was in Chicago in 1999 and has, so far, covered more than 50 cities across the world. All artists are Costa Rican and all art reflects some aspect of Costa Rican culture. Art of the people, about the people, for the people. What it's all about... I will continue adding photos over the next few months as more are installed and as I spend more time discovering where they all are. Enjoy! I know I will.
